A short evening walk on Thursday, 30th April; bring your friends and join us for ‘Bluebell Walk’ - we shall meet in the car-park at Nanpantan Sports Ground at 6.50pm.

Where’s that? Walk west out of L’boro on Forest Road, past the Kirkstone Drive/Valley Road junction (from here the road is called Nanpantan Road), and a little further on turn left to the Sports Ground.

Next Sunday, 26th April, ‘OPEN-HOUSE’ will meet in the Emmanuel Church ‘HALL’ from 2.00 pm until 4.00 pm (14.00 - 16.00).
The Hall is at the other end of the path (across the grass outside the Church).

Walk to Woodhouse Eaves - 13th April

Monday 13th is a Public Holiday. Would you like to join us for a WALK? We plan to go through the Outwoods to Beacon Hill - across to Broombriggs Farm (where we shall eat our picnic) - on to Woodhouse Eaves (and a cup of tea at No 11) - then back by different paths to where we began.

Bring with you:- strong walking shoes, a warm jacket in case it is cold or wet, camera, food and drink for your picnic (and a plastic bag to sit on if the field is wet) ~ you can put them all in a lightweight back-pack with your umbrella and hat etc!!!

Meeting Point ~ 10.15 am, at the junction of Forest Road with Kirkstone Drive & Valley Road (on your map - west side of town, leading to Nanpantan) – but please don’t be late! More info at ‘OPEN-HOUSE’ on Sunday.

SONRISE SERVICE at Beacon Hill - 12th April

On Sunday 12th we celebrate Jesus Christ’s glorious resurrection (rising from the dead) on the ‘third day’ ~ Easter Sunday is really the most wonderful of all Christian celebrations. Some of us begin the day by going to the top of Beacon Hill for a SONRISE SERVICE at 6.30 am. If you’d like to join us (the sun rising in the east can be most spectacular) then do come - the Chinese Christian Fellowship will walk there (meet at the Uni Library at 4.15 am); Aaron has more details (ansteya@yahoo,co.uk). And of course you you are welcome to celebrate Easter at Emmanuel Church, King’s Church, Sunday Family Fellowship, Beacon Fellowship, All Saints Church Thorpe Acre, Holywell Church, Elim Church.

Good Friday - 10th April

On Friday 10th there will be a special commemorative occasion at 12 noon in the Market Place when the local churches meet to remember the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ (‘sacrifice’ = payment with blood!); we call this ‘Good Friday’.

OPEN HOUSE

‘OPEN-HOUSE’~ International & Multicultural ~Loughborough can be a lonely place for overseas visitors, and 'OPEN-HOUSE', helps promote friendship between people of different cultures, nations, and ages ~ "a place where people from overseas are loved and accepted - where they can make friends in a safe environment". 'OPEN-HOUSE' meets regularly in the ‘Lounge’ at Emmanuel Church which, situated centrally in our town, is easy for people to find. We welcome men and women of all ages, single and married, from all nations and cultures - from 2pm to 4pm on most Sunday afternoons. Serving light refreshments to students, academics and other visitors from overseas (including children), we relax, chat, play board-games, share news and views etc. We also arrange occasional quizzes, outings, meals and local walks. We trust that 'OPEN-HOUSE' will enable better relations between people of different cultures, to the mutual benefit of all.'OPEN-HOUSE' is served by ‘friendship’ volunteers from several local Christian churches who help to welcome newcomers, serve refreshments and generally mix-and-mingle with visitors, extending and encouraging, friendship ~ practising gifts of Christian hospitality! As up to 40+ overseas visitors currently attend we are seeking more committed helpers, because we are in contact with many, many more visitors to our town from overseas.
